Why Avoid Keyword Stuffing?

 How does keyword stuffing work?

The process of "keyword stuffing" is exactly what it sounds like: you cram as many of the primary keywords and keyword phrases you want your page to rank for into the headers, meta tags, body content, footers, and any other available space on your website.

Sometimes, keyword stuffing will even entail concealing text so that only search engines can see it. For example, the text may be made to match the background colour of the page or hidden behind an image.

The concept behind keyword stuffing is that the more frequently a search engine finds a term or phrase on your website, the more likely it is that it will rank you for queries including that word or phrase.

The reason why keyword stuffing is a poor thing
The issue is that search engines are fundamentally built to provide people the greatest experience possible. The objective has always been the same and will always be the same, even though the algorithms are continuously being improved to better achieve it.

Modern search engines utilise incredibly complex algorithms to determine which pages offer the most relevant, helpful information and the greatest user experience, as opposed to just scanning the web for keywords.

Unfortunately, because keyword stuffing makes for such a bad user experience, most visitors won't stick around long enough to learn anything helpful.
